Makes children apply their education and hone critical thinking, problem solving and team work along with faculties that they did not apply as much in a formal school setting
Children learn about real world challenges. Children also learn to grow their wings as they begin to realise that they can move mountains.
Helps prepare tomorrow's leaders with ignited minds. Children learn about the real life addressable issues and explore sustainable solutions.
We all know that the future of the world is in the hands of the children. And the education of our children needs to be augmented with new perspectives. Perspectives that will motivate them to lead new developments in world.

The privilege of being born into a family that allows her to get all sorts of opportunities and never made her want for anything is a stroke of luck .
It becomes important for her to understand that there are kids that are as bright , who want to avail the various opportunities but are unable to do so simply because of financial and social constraints .
She has learned the responsibility to use our privilige to try and make a difference , and helps her reach a small section of the society , which she is grateful for.
I wanted my children to join “the awakening” for them to have wider perspective about life as such.
Through the program I wanted them to experience a sense of gratitude about the life that we are living
To my children the awakening brought about a realisation of what lies beyond the comfort of our home. It has brought an understanding of true meaning of words like “generosity”, “compassion” and “empathy”. I am deeply grateful to Jyotika and Nitin to have crafted the program with so much thought - taking children to slums, an old age Home, cancer patients and to Goonj.
Visiting the places and the discussions that followed has left an everlasting imprint in their hearts
Adya developed an understanding of how blessed she is to have it all ... and genuinely understanding the concept of gratitude.
Rushil Punchhi joined the Awakening session with Om spread a Smile. He thoroughly enjoyed the experience and was introduced to the diversity and tough conditions of a larger group of our society. As a parent I felt he became more empathetic and sensitive in dealing with extreme situations and adjusting to circumstances of people around him. The awakening program has brought him the awareness to be generous and understanding that hard work is required no matter what.
I see him as a more responsible citizen as I see him noticing even the smallest things around us related to social issues, environment and poverty. He now has opinion about these situations and a sense of maturity to react to adverse circumstances.
I would highly recommend this program to teenagers and younger children as it would certainly give them perspective to see life from a different angle
After my daughter Nandini joined Om Spread a Smile Foundation as a volunteer in its community service programme, I noticed many positive changes in her during and post her engagement with the team.
For one, she was very excited to meet like minded student volunteers and be a part of a direct activity. She also became more sensitive to the challenges faced by the marginalised sections of society, especially children.
And last but not the least, I saw in her a sense of being part of a larger endeavour and the satisfaction of having made a difference to society in her own small way.
I feel the passion and drive of the Om Foundation team brings out the best in children like my daughter. Kudos, much gratitude and good luck!
